Pest Control Ringwood

If you require pest control in Ringwood and any surrounding suburbs then you need to call us now. We specialise in the removal or extermination of all types of pests. We have pest managers who service homes and businesses in the City of Maroondah everyday. Alan Gray, our most experienced technician, lives in nearby Croydon. He says, “I love living and working in this area. Because I’ve been living here so long there’s not much I haven’t seen or done before. The most common jobs are possum removal and rodent extermination. Spider and insect spraying in the warm seasons is also popular”.

Ringwood is a well established suburb with older style homes. Alan continues, “As a home ages it can get slightly run down. Cracks may appear, roof tiles may crumble or timber may rot. Any gaps or cracks provide an excellent opportunity for pests to gain entry into your home. Even the new homes have their share of problems with birds renowned for nesting under corrugated iron roof sheets”.

We offer pest control services for the following pests:

  • Possums
  • Rats and Mice
  • Termites and other timber pests
  • Spiders, Cockroaches, Ants, Fleas, Silverfish, Millipedes
  • Flying pests like flies, mosquitoes, bees and wasps
  • Snakes and other reptiles

As we’ve established, Alan has worked in the Ringwood area for a very long time. He says possums are the most common source of enquiry by the general public in the suburb. He continues, “While we still have plenty of suitable trees for possums to live in, they prefer the comfort of a nice and warm roof space. The older homes in the area often have gaps in and around the roof that allow them to enter. Once inside they’re not going anywhere without human intervention. They keep you awake at night and after they’ve been in the roof for a while a smell will begin to permeate the house. They also often leave urine stains on walls and ceilings”.

Identifying possum entry points into a home takes a trained eye. It can also be dangerous as possums have exceptional climbing skills that we don’t possess. Once thing we know for sure is that possum proofing a home should be left to the experts. We have the equipment and training to complete the task safely and effectively. We also have intimate knowledge of the law that relates to possums. These furry critters are native to Australia and as such, they are subject to protection from harm and relocation.

Alan adds, “Often we get clients trapping possums in a cage, taking them for a long drive and then thinking that they’ve solved the problem. Not long after they find that another possum has taken the place of the relocated one as the entry points have not been closed. It’s illegal to relocate these animals as research shows that they will likely die once moved from their original territory. They also hurt themselves when trapped in a cage as they aggressively try to escape from the cage”.

We establish all active and potential entry points and close them off. We then install a one-way door next to the active entry point. This allows for any occupants to exit but not re-enter. Alan concludes, “If done right the possum will exit through the one-way door on the first night. It will search for food during the night before returning before light. They’ll then come to the realisation that their entry into the roof has been removed. There might be some banging and crashing but then they’ll soon move on in search of a new home”.

Pest Control Ringwood
Once the entry point for possums into the roof space is identified it should be closed off. A one-way door should then be installed. The possum/s can exit but not re-enter.

Ringwood is also a suburb that is populated with rats. It’s quite common for rats and possums to live cohesively together in a roof cavity. Once we have controlled the possum issue we can then proceed with rodent extermination.
